The 2015-16 NBA season has finally turned the page to 2016, but there’s been very little chatter about the biggest free agent of this coming summer. Kevin Durant has made every question about his impending free agency sound like a pesky cub reporter is asking about an on-court fuss. We’re not going to hear a peep out of KD, who treats speculative questions about his future like the albatross they’d become. But that hasn’t stopped some from speculating anyway.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard recently did just that after speaking to “some executives,” about the 2016 free agency coup KD represents. (tip of the hat to Pro Basketball Talk for the below tangents of transcription):

“At this point, everything is speculation…

“When you talk to some executives, a name that has been thrown will shock people – Golden State…

“Now, this is not something coming out Durant’s camp….

“There are those around the league that think Golden State is a possibility.”

We’ve already heard mutterings that the Warriors purposefully avoided lucrative extensions for approaching restricted free agents, Festus Ezeli and Harrison Barnes — the latter of whom could command max money when he enters the market (his time on the sidelines for an ankle injury, notwithstanding) — because they were pondering a run at Durant.
