Because they’re easy to make and typically rake in box office money, biopics are still the hottest thing in Hollywood – even after the cattle fart that was Jobs – and the next big one that we have to look forward to is the story of John Belushi’s life. Emile Hirsch is already set to play the hilarious but dark and troubled Saturday Night Live star in the biopic being produced by Belushi’s widow, among others, and Hirsch let it slip at a party for the Creative Coalition who would play the Elwood to his Jake.
Naturally, Miles Teller will play Dan Aykroyd.
“A shout-out to Miles Teller!” he told the packed party.
“YO WHERE’S MY AVERAGE WHITE GUY CO-STAR AT?!?!”
“We’re going to be working together soon. He’s playing Dan Aykroyd in the Belushi movie.” Teller was in the room when Hirch [sic] made the proclamation.
CAA, however, is saying any announcement may be premature. The actor does have the offer but insists the actor will take a beat to committing to any new project until after Sundance wraps and he finishes his press duties for his upcoming movie That Awkward Moment. (Via the Hollywood Reporter)
Obviously, That Awkward Moment is more important than anything in the world right now. Have you seen the commercial for that where the guy’s like, “I’m sad so I’m going to eat ice cream” and the other guy’s like, “Who are you, Bridget Jones?” I literally pissed a hole through my Zubaz laughing at that line. And then when Zac Efron shows up to his girlfriend’s fancy party with a dildo on his jeans and a shirt that reads, “Rock out…” I was clinically dead for four minutes from laughing so hard. Can we not amend the Oscar rules to get That Awkward Moment some nominations this year?
Anyway, as for this news, Teller is one of the hottest young actors in Hollywood right now, between his critical praise for Whiplash at Sundance and his ability to perfectly play Johnny Average Who Says Zany Things That Normal People Are Totally Thinking But Aren’t Brave Enough To Say, there’s no way that Teller would actually turn this role down, so while most sites are reporting that he “has been offered” the role of Aykroyd, we can all just go ahead and say that it’s certain.
As for the role of Jim Belushi, I’d bet my left nut that it’s Josh Gad if I hadn’t already lost my left nut from laughing too hard at the scene in That Awkward Moment when Teller is hit by a car.
