‘The Legend Of Zelda’ Reimagined As A Studio Ghibli Film Is As Gorgeous As You’d Expect

If you’re a lover of fantasy, there’s a very good chance you’re a fan of both Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda series and the films of Studio Ghibli, and now the two have finally come together. Well, sort of. Artist and YouTuber Matt Vince imagined what a Studio Ghibli Zelda movie might look like, and the results are beautiful. Vince’s faux trailer is mostly just made up of lushly painted backgrounds, with little actual animation, but he still nails the Miyazaki vibe dead on. You can check the trailer out above.

So, is a Ghibli-produced Legend of Zelda movie an actual possibility? Probably not, since Studio Ghibli seems to be winding down following Hayao Miyazaki’s latest retirement, but it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility. Nintendo is once again open to the idea of their classic characters starring in movies, and Studio Ghibli worked on the beautiful RPG Ni No Kuni in the past. If Ghibli gets back on its feet, who knows what could happen? Bring on the Legend of Zelda/Princess Mononoke crossover!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which has a bit of a Ghibli vibe, arrives on the Wii U and Nintendo NX this coming March.
