The Floating Urban Planets of Masakatsu Sashie

That’s not a small moon, it’s a floating urban planet. Or something. What it is exactly isn’t precisely clear but to my imagination it looks like the airship equivalent to a city block. In any case, they look amazing and I want one to live in.

Artist Masakatsu Sashie of Hong Kong has been painting these structures for about a decade. Although many of these balls appear lighthearted and brightly colored, they are more often dark, grimy spheres floating over a decimated urban landscape. Their one common feature? What appears to be exhaust fans.

Check out my favorites in the slideshow or go to Masakatsu Sashie’s website to see more of his work.
