Much like the LEGO version of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, you knew we were going to get a George Lucas parody at some point. I’ve seen at least three myself, with a few Spaceballs ones thrown in for a good mix, and this one might be the best.
The new trailer captures everything that Lucas was criticized for with his Star Wars re-releases and prequels, especially the part where he would just thrown random things to fill out a scene. It also doesn’t shy away from the more infamous aspects of the Lucas touch, like Hayden Christensen and Greedo shooting first.
If you hate George Lucas, it’s the perfect skewering. If you love him, it’s a love note to what might’ve been. We all win in the end because we’re getting something we love, and we’re getting it with more lightsaber blades attached to it.
