Lionsgate Wants To Do More ‘Hunger Games’ Movies Despite Being Fresh Out Of Books To Adapt

No rest for you, Katniss.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 comes out later this year, which means the whole Hunger Games thing is finally going to be winding down, right? Jennifer Lawrence can go on to win more Academy Awards, the poor kids of Panem can stop killing each other and we can all find our next YA series to inappropriately obsess over. Well, not so fast.

According to Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer, his studio is “actively thinking about [Hunger Games] prequel and sequel possibilities”. No word in whether Jennifer Lawrence would be involved in these movies, but it seems unlikely, making prequels starring a younger actress the most reasonable scenario. Maybe they could do a movie all about Lenny Kravitz’s character and really kill the series dead.

Other plans to keep the child murder money train rolling include traveling Hunger Games exhibitions and, yes, they’re still pushing ahead with that Hunger Games theme park idea. Here’s Feltheimer again, talking Lionsgate’s various non-movie plans for the franchise…

“We are in significant conversations with at least one theme park. [The smaller shows] also offer a lot of the upside. Once we built it once we can actually have one, two or three running at the same time. It’s kind of a no-brainer.”

Hunger Games theme parks, traveling shows and movies in perpetuity! And here I was kind of done with the concept halfway through the first movie, but hey, what do I know?
