It sounds like X-Men: Days of Future Past actor Michael Fassbender’s long gestating Assasin’s Creed film project is ready to go. We first heard that the video-game-turned-movie would hit theaters in Christmas 2016. Of course, in order for that to happen, there has to be an actual movie.

Hence the news from ComingSoon.net that Assasin’s Creed will start filming this September. While interviewing Fassbender about his Western Slow West, the film came up in conversation:

“You say it’s a long time but what I’ve found–it’s all new to me but starting to develop scripts and work on them, they take time,” he countered to our mention of the delays in getting the movie made. “It just takes time to get a good story together and we really want to do it right. It’s exciting. It’s going to start this year, we’ll be filming in September.”

The actor was responding to the suggestion that the project had suffered continual delays. Otherwise, he didn’t really have much to say about the film in regards to plot details or character descriptions. Even so, we at least know when the actual production will begin, and that’s pretty cool.
