Jon Bernthal Is Busy Reading Up On His Punisher Comics For ‘Daredevil’

Jon Bernthal isn’t messing around when it comes to doing his homework. The actor was recently cast as Frank Castle/the Punisher for season 2 of Netflix’s Daredevil. Much like his previous work in familiarizing himself with the character of Shane and story canon of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead, the 38-year-old actor is immersing himself in research by reading Punisher comics.

Last week, Bernthal visited Hypno Comics to replenish his supply. Store owner George Chase shared the above photo on the shop’s official Instagram to mark the occasion. The future Frank Castle poses with a copy of Punisher MAX #16, while George holds issues from the first Punisher miniseries, “Circle of Blood.” The synopsis for the new season of Daredevil has not been announced, but I have a sneaking suspicion the Kingpin storyline from the 1986 miniseries referenced above might come into play.

Daredevil vs. The Punisher will hit Netflix in 2016, and by the looks of things, the streaming service — and audiences alike — might not be ready for what comes next.
