Halloween Costumes Reveal A Bunch Of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Spoilers

As we get closer to the December release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, more and more plot details are starting to slip, largely thanks to the huge merchandise push that was Force Friday. But this year’s crop of Halloween costumes, in particular, are really making with the plot spoilers in the descriptions on their packaging. What have we learned from branded plastic pants?

Star Wars Episode 7 News breaks out all the relevant details:

  • Generally, it appears the Galaxy is in crappy, crappy shape: The fall of the Empire left a power vacuum nobody’s been able to fill for decades.
  • Rey lives inside an AT-AT on Jakku, and apparently that rather memorable sequence with a TIE fighter blowing the hell out of a hanger has her at the wheel… and is set inside the Starkiller superweapon rumored to be the central plot point of the script.
  • Finn does indeed start the movie as a Stormtrooper, contrary to fan theories that his sweaty first appearance as a trooper was just a false flag operation.
  • It turns out that “Ren” is a title, not a surname: Kylo Ren belongs to the Knights of Ren, those Sith groupies we’ve been hearing so much about. He also appears to have little, if any, command of the Force, but that doesn’t matter much when you’ve got a laser sword and an army.
  • Captain Phasma has some connection to the Force… and apparently is after all the power of the Dark Side for herself. The First Order really needs to work on proper management and employee goals.

There is, of course, much more out there; as nerds sort through all the toys they bought to sell to other nerds on eBay, I’m sure we’ll hear more. Also, there’s one last trailer on the way, likely soon, because they’re teasing it already.
