Telltale’s ‘Batman’ Series Steps Out Of The Shadows With A Dramatic Debut Trailer

Late last year, Telltale Games, the folks behind the acclaimed The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones episodic games, announced they were working on a Batman series. Obviously, that got a lot of folks pretty excited, but we hadn’t heard much about the series since the initial news broke.

Well, that changes now, as Batman: The Telltale Series has dropped its first full trailer. Telltale has said their series takes place in its own unique universe, but based on the trailer, it will have a lot in common with Batman: Year One. In the game, Batman is still forging his legacy, Harvey Dent isn’t yet Two-Face and mobster Carmine Falcone is still a threat. That said, the game looks to feature an older Jim Gordon and Selina Kyle seems to be already well into her career as Catwoman. So, clearly there’s a bit of mix and match going on.

The first episode of Batman: The Telltale Series launches on PC, Mac, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4 on Aug. 2. The series will consist of five episodes, each of which will cost $5.

Excited for Telltale’s take on Gotham City? Do you like the Year One-esque setting, or would you have preferred something more unique?
