Great news for diehard fans of the original Ghostbusters film: Jimmy Kimmel is reuniting the cast on his late night talk show on June 8. Bad news for some diehard fans of the original Ghostbusters film, namely those who are cartoonishly angry over Paul Feig’s female-driven remake: The new cast will be appearing on the June 8 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, as well.

That night marks the 32nd anniversary of the film’s release, so this news comes on the heels of the announcement that the 1984 version will return to theaters on June 8 and Sunday, June 12. Oh, and don’t forget to sneak a can or two of the limited re-release of Hi-C’s Ecto Cooler or else you’ll risk being a total Louis Tully.

As for Kimmel’s reunion idea, which is sure to be a ratings and YouTube win, director Paul Feig summed it up pretty well in his statement to USA Today:

“Seeing the original and new Ghostbusters all together (will be) like being in the presence of the comedy gods on Mount Olympus,” new Ghostbusters director Paul Feig tells USA TODAY in a statement. “This is an epic summit of some of the funniest people on the planet. Long live the Ghostbusters!”

When it comes to one specific Ghostbuster, the question is always “Will he or won’t he,” considering he allegedly only uses a cell phone for texting, but Bill Murray is indeed joining Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts from the original cast, as well as the four female stars – Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, and Kate McKinnon — of the new version, which hits theaters on July 15.

That’s quite a few dates to remember, so make sure to schedule your DVR and outrage accordingly.
