Michael Bay Shares A Look At The New Bumblebee From ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’

You’re right, dear readers. I feel you. It’s practically common knowledge at this point that what the world needs now more than anything else is another Transformers movie. I mean, how have we as a species even survived the two years since the last one?

We’ve known for a while that the fifth installment of the toys-turned-loud-unintelligible blockbuster franchise will be back and that Mark Wahlberg will again take the lead. We also know that, like the Star Wars saga, there will now be many, many more Transformers movies, including stand-alone spinoffs about various individual Transformers (really, who doesn’t want an origin story about a blender or a vacuum cleaner that turns into a robot powerful enough to destroy the planet?) such as the Bumblebee. Well, Bumblebee is set to be the first Transformer to get his/her own flick and director Michael Bay wants you to know that a) he digs this development, and b) he’s very much on #brand.

Incredible synergy. When you can make three-hour movies about exploding cities whenever you want, why not sell cars too while you’re at it, right?

Transformers: The Last Knight (but clearly not the last movie) will hit theaters next summer. In addition to Wahlberg, none other than Sir Anthony Hopkins will be cashing a check for a few weeks of talking in front of a green screen which will certainly add some real gravitas to the proceedings. Let’s just say it’s safe to assume that the real gravity, though, will be the endless slow motion shots of massive hunks of twisted metal falling from great heights to the ground in typical, fiery fashion.
