It seems like only yesterday we were posting this recap of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remake and covering the quotes from director Jonathan Liebesman about producer Michael Bay’s comment that the turtles will be from an “alien race”. We also mentioned that the working title for the film is Ninja Turtles, which has angered people who think this may mean the new non-mutant turtle-like aliens won’t be teenagers either. Michael Bay has confirmed the Ninja Turtles title and commented on it at his official site:

Paramount marketing changed the name. They made the title simple. The characters you all remember are exactly the same, and yes they still act like teenagers. Everything you remember, why you liked the characters, is in the movie. This script is being developed by two very smart writers, with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles. They care VERY MUCH about making this film for the fans. Everyone on this team cares about the fans. Just give them a chance. Jonathan the director, is a major fan of the whole franchise. HE’S NOT GOING TO LET YOU DOWN.

“HE’S NOT GOING TO RUN AROUND AND DESERT YOU,” Michael Bay didn’t say. And he may or may not have posted the following video to further elucidate how much they’re not going to let us down. Just imagine Cookie Monster represents Ninja Turtles and Elmo represents our childhoods:

Powerful stuff.
