Adam Driver says ‘there’s no truth’ to rumor he’s Nightwing in ‘Batman vs. Superman’

We all know how good Adam Driver is as an actor based on his work in the acclaimed HBO TV series “GIRLS” and films such as “Frances Ha,” but is he telling the truth about his rumored involvement in the upcoming “Batman vs. Superman”?

Earlier this month reports indicated the 29-year-old was in line to play Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing, alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman in Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated “Man of Steel” sequel.  Speaking at the press day for “Inside Llewyn Davis” in Los Angeles on Saturday, Driver told HitFix that just isn’t the case.

“I’ve heard that. But, no, no, I don’t think there is any truth to it,” Driver says. “Not that I know of. Unless I’m totally missing something.”

You can watch Driver’s blunt response in the video embedded at the top of this post.  If Driver is really taking on the role (or something close to it) he’s doing a wonderful J.J. Abrams in denying it.  Other wild rumors about a potential Nightwing character include “Gossip Girl’s” Penn Badgley and “Perks of Being A Wallflower” star Ezra Miller.

Driver, who is fantastic in his small role in “Davis,” will be seen in the indies “The F Word” and “Tracks” sometime next year.  He’s currently reuniting with his “Frances” director Noah Baumbach for “While We’re Young.”  The third season of “GIRLS” returns to HBO on Jan. 12, 2014.

The tentatively titled “Batman vs. Superman” is currently scheduled for release on July 17, 2015.
