Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg: A match made in comedy heaven or in comedy hell, depending on your point-of-view. The two play an unlikely father-and-son duo in the upcoming “That’s My Boy.”
Sandler is deadbeat dad Donny who tries to re-connect with his adult son Todd after years of being apart. Donny impregnated his junior high teacher when he was a kid, so he’s only a few years older than Todd — but still acts like he’s 17. Can they get over their differences and see eye-to-eye on the eve of Todd’s wedding? These 8 clips should clue you in. If you like Sandler’s recent brand of comedy, enjoy. All others, beware. In the beginning, a pubescent Donny gets hot for teacher, leading to the sort of illicit teacher-student tryst ripped from from the headlines. That’s how Todd (Samberg) came into the world (above). In the early scenes, the teacher is played by Eva Amurri, with her real-life mom Susan Sarandon playing an older version of the same character in the latter part of the film.
Years later, a now-grown Todd confronts his wayward dad about leaving him to raise himself. Tragically, Donny also has a drinking problem. This will probably be the scene they show at the Oscars when they announce Samberg’s nomination.

The Budweiser “Wassup?!” comes back in style for a brief, shining moment in “That’s My Boy.” Sandler does it, Tony Orlando does it, and even — wait for it — an old lady does it.
In the next clip, father and son catch up on lost time when Donny helps Todd learn to ride a bike, with wildly unpredictable results. Did Andy Samberg really leave “SNL” to make movies like this?
Leading up to their wedding, Todd tries to get some from his annoyed fiancee (“Gossip Girl’s” Leighton Meester). She’s understandably perturbed by the whole situation.
“That’s My Boy” also stars Will Forte, Milo Ventimiglia, Ana Gasteyer and Vanilla Ice (!) as himself. Sarandon is the latest Oscar-winner (Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, Nicole Kidman) to slum it up in a Sandler film.
