“Chuck” star Zachary Levi is planning to join some animated rodents a new movie role.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levi will star opposite Alvin, Simon and Theodore (plus Jason Lee) in “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.”
All the trade paper knows is that Levi will play the cousin of of Lee’s character, who gets tangled up in some sort of mess with the talking, singing chipmunks (Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney).
Betty Thomas will direct the Fox 2000 film, a sequel to the 2007 smash that made a mind-boggling $217 million at the domestic box office (and $360 million worldwide).
Also joining the squeakquel are the Chipettes — Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor — love interests and musical rivals to our heroes.
In addition to his starring role on “Chuck” and a supporting turn on “Less Than Perfect,” Levi’s film credits include “Big Momma’s House 2” and “Shades of Ray.”
