Exclusive: DC Comics’ ‘Mother Panic’ #1 brings a different rich vigilante to Gotham

The Gerard Way-directed imprint Young Animal at DC Comics has one more series to debut, and this one is set in a very familiar place – Gotham City. Check out an exclusive preview of Mother Panic #1, by Jody Houser and Tommy Lee Edwards.

As if Gotham didn't already have enough going on within (and just outside) the city limits, a new vigilante is about to make her big entrance. Violet Paige, who's going by the moniker Mother Panic, was created by Way and is being described by DC as:

A celebutante with a bad attitude and a temper to match, who no one suspects has anything lying beneath the surface of her outrageous exploits. But Violet isn”t just another bored heiress in the upper echelons of Gotham City”s elite.

As with most vigilantes, she's motivated by a traumatic past and is looking for vengeance. Sound like anyone you know? Houser has said, “She”s a very privileged young woman, but she”s very aware of that privilege in a way that most other billionaire superheroes may not have to confront very often.”

This first arc, written by Houser (writer of Valiant Entertainment's hit series Faith) will feature cameos from Batman and Batwoman and a rotating lineup of talented artists starting with Edwards. Check out our exclusive preview in the gallery below.
