‘Prison Break’ star joins The CW’s ‘Flash’ as Captain Cold

Wentworth Miller is setting aside his screenwriting career for a small screen return on The CW's “The Flash.”

At Friday (July 18) morning's Television Critics Association press tour panel, the “Flash” producers announced that Leonard Snart would be dropping by the CW's DC Comics adaptation in the season's fourth episode.

At that point, producer Greg Berlanti asked the room of reporters what Leonard Snart's alternate identity is and eager beaver young HitFix scribe Alan Sepinwall, our own Barry Allen, proudly yelled “Captain Cold!”

Captain Cold and Leonard Snart were first introduced way back in 1957. The leader of The Rogues, he has a powerful freeze gun and he has had a varied (but mostly negative) relationship with different incarnations of The Flash.

“We'll be seeing his origin and the origin of the Rogues,” teased Berlanti.

Although he's best known for his run as heavily tattooed Michael Scofield on “Prison Break,” Miller has largely disengaged from acting in recent years to concentrate on a screenwriting career that includes 2013's “Stoker” and the upcoming “The Disappointments Room.”

Miller is not without connection to the DC Universe. He previously voiced Slade Wilson and Deathstroke on “Young Justice.”
