‘SNL’s’ season opener included the perfect tribute to Gene Wilder

Alec Baldwin played Donald Trump and Kate McKinnon Hillary Clinton to open Saturday Night Live's 42nd season premiere. Host Margot Robbie had some excellent moments but it was Kate McKinnon's tribute to the late Gene Wilder that hit the perfect note.

Our sister site UPROXX has more on the fantastic SNL premiere last night but I felt this deserved some extra attention. Baldwin, McKinnon, and Michael Che (playing Lester Holt) delivered the expected take on the recent Presidential debate to open the show but there was a little surprise thrown in as well.

This couldn't be more perfect. Wilder's contributions to comedy and talent were vast but it was the simple moments, like his fake-tumble in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, where he really stood out. Honestly, I think he would have loved this.
