TV Ratings: ‘New Girl,’ ‘NCIS’ stay hot for FOX, CBS on Tuesday

Zooey Deschanel and FOX’s “New Girl” retained viewers impressively from last week’s surprising premiere, settling in as an early-season comedy hit and helping the network top Tuesday night among young viewers. Meanwhile, the “NCIS” duo kept CBS in control overall and despite a big drop, “Unforgettable” also won its hour.
Among adults 18-49, FOX averaged a 3.6 rating, edging out CBS’ 3.4 rating to win the coveted demographic. ABC and NBC tied for third with a 2.2 rating, while The CW averaged a 0.9 rating.
Overall, though, CBS averaged an estimated 15.865 million viewers to go with a 10.0 rating/15 share, easily winning the night. ABC was second with a 7.3/11 and 10.93 million viewers, still far ahead of the 4.7/7 and 8.06 million viewers for FOX. NBC was fourth with a 3.7/6 and 5.69 million viewers. The CW’s 1.2/2 and 1.84 million viewers was up from last week, but trailed.
8 p.m. – CBS started primetime in first with 19.18 million viewers and a 4.2 rating among adults 18-49 for “NCIS.” ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” clip show was second with 9.3 million viewers, but finished fourth with a 1.8 key demo rating. FOX’s “Glee” slipped from its premiere to 8.34 million viewers and a 3.6 key demo rating in third. On NBC, “The Biggest Loser” averaged 5.7 million viewers and a 2.1 demo rating, also down. The CW’s “90210” bucked the downward trend with 1.68 million viewers and a 0.8 key demo rating, up from last week.

9 p.m. – “NCIS: Los Angeles” kept CBS in first overall for the 9 p.m. hour with 16.13 million viewers and finished second with a 3.5 rating among adults 18-49. ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” rose to 14.05 million viewers for second and a 2.8 key demo rating for third. FOX was fourth overall, but tops in the key demo with “New Girl” (9.26 million viewers and a 4.4 key demo rating) and “Raising Hope” (6.3 million and a 2.9 key demo rating). NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” averaged 5.84 million viewers. On The CW, “Ringer” leveled off after last week’s drop, averaging 2.005 million viewers (slightly up) and a 0.9 key demo rating.
10 p.m. – CBS’ “Unforgettable” averaged 12.285 million viewers and a 2.5 key demo rating to win the 10 p.m. hour, though both numbers represented big declines from last week’s premiere. ABC’s “Body of Proof” averaged 9.43 million viewers and a 1.9 key demo rating also off from last week. That made NBC’s “Parenthood” the exception, riding to 5.52 million viewers and a 2.2 key demo rating.
