Does Facebook sometimes get a little dramatic for you? The film about Facebook’s beginnings gets that way too.
“The Social Network” is due on Oct. 1, and the full trailer arrived today, featuring a somber cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” by Scala and the Kolacny Brothers.
This is an improvement over previous clips in that it contains actual scenes from the David Fincher-directed flick. Jesse Eisenberg stars as the “creep” Mark Zuckerberg, planning the social network’s reach to college students at Harvard, fighting with his cohorts and competitors and arriving at what should be his moment of personal victory.
As previously reported, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor worked on the score; it co-stars Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake, as seen in the clip.
“The film’s materials continue to position ‘Network’ as a serious drama – a battle for the control of internet riches and multimedia power,” says HitFix’s Greg Ellwood. “This is strange considering the early buzz from those who have seen the film – and there are few – is about how funny it is.”
Guess we’ll have to stay tuned to see if the next tease alludes to as much.
