The Satanic Temple Is Not Happy With Those Ted Cruz Comparisons With Lucifer

It has been a little bit of time since I’ve gotten a chance to check in with the Satanic Temple, but leave it to Ted Cruz to pull them out of hiding. Or pull them back into the fray of public theater. After John Boehner decided to describe Cruz as “Lucifer in the flesh” — a term that one commenter noted doesn’t appear in the old testament, but still appears deep in our hearts — the Satanic Temple decided to release a statement showing their outrage of the entire thing.

According to Raw Story, The Temple and their leader Lucien Greaves do agree with the soul of Boehner’s comparison. They just don’t think there’s any way that he’s the embodiment of the adversary himself:

“Cruz’s failures of reason, compassion, decency, and humanity are products of his Christian pandering, if not an actual Christian faith,” Greaves responded. “It grows tedious when pedophile priests and loathsome politicians are conveniently dismissed as Satanic, even as they spew biblical verse and prostrate themselves before the cross, recruiting the Christian faithful. Satanists will have nothing to do with any of them.”

As is well known by now, the Satanic Temple isn’t actually a group of Satanists and they follow a more “humanist” set of beliefs that make them seem like decent folk. Decent folk who enjoy a blood orgy or two? One can only hope. Too bad that’s just wishful thinking.

Still, the Temple has a great point in their stance against Cruz as Lucifer. If it turns out he truly is some sort of demon in a flesh suit, it’s going to disappointing for so many rock bands and horror writers. I can’t even imagine Satan calling it a “basketball ring.” Then again, if you type in Lucifer2016.com, it takes you to a very interesting place.
