Jon Jones May Have Blown His Parole By Driving Without A License

Jon Jones truly is the Lindsay Lohan of mixed martial arts. Just when we thought he’d finally learned his lesson after having his cocaine habit exposed and getting into a hit and run, he has a new, totally avoidable incident in the news. This time, he was pulled over and cited for driving without a license, registration or proof of insurance.

There’s still some confusion over how serious this latest incident is. A representative for Jones is claiming he is “fully licensed and insured,” implying that he simply did not have his paperwork with him when pulled over. But several reports from his hit-and-run incident last year mentioned the former UFC light heavyweight champ’s license was suspended after the accident.

Regardless, either situation could constitute a violation of his probation and cost him his ability to fight Daniel Cormier at UFC 197 on April 23. This latest incident went down on January 31, and Jones will appear in court on February 10 to address the situation.

This is just the latest in a long line of vehicle related incidents on Jones’ part. In 2011, Jones was caught drifting his Bentley around the parking lot of a strip club. His license was suspended at the time. In 2012, he ran that same Bentley into a utility pole while drunk. April of 2015 saw his most serious offense, where he ran a red light and hit the vehicle of a pregnant woman. He fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a marijuana pipe and “a sh*tload of condoms.”

Somehow this latest incident only resulted in parole and community service, and we expect the same lawyers who wrangled that for Jones will get him out of this latest situation, as well…which is good, I suppose? We all want to see Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier next month, but it’d be nice to see the law treating all people equally, as well.
