George Martin is a legendary music producer who worked with the Beatles. George R.R. Martin is the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels that were adapted into HBO’s Game of Thrones (the season six trailer for which was released yesterday). They have similar names, but they are not the same person. One just passed, the other’s alive. Surprisingly, the G.M. who passed away isn’t the one with a penchant for murdering everyone you love.

Twitter was very confused.

George R.R. Martin, who only stops writing The Winds of Winter to complain about the New York Jets (both are time consuming), wants everyone to know that, to quote Mark Twain, “rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” That still didn’t stop KOLO8 from killing him. Martin continued, “It was Sir George Martin, of Beatles fame, who has passed away. Not me.”

As for me, I am still here, still writing, still editing, still going to movies and reading books, and I expect to hang around for quite a while yet, thank you very much.

But thank you all for caring. (Via)

So, to recap: George Martin, dead; George R.R. Martin, alive; Jon Snow, ???
