WE LOVE LUCY

Lucille Ball: iconic comedian, feminist hero, wide-eyed bronze monster.

A statue of the legendary I Love Lucy star was recently erected in her hometown of Celoron, N.Y., apparently by someone who thought he was sculpting Napoleon Dynamite in drag instead. Lucy fans are understandably none too pleased, saying that the “statue should go.”

[We Love Lucy! Get Rid of this Statue] group organizer says that he does not want to disparage artist Dave Poulin at all. In fact, he said, the artist has other works that are quite good — he just missed the mark this time.

“I think it looks like a monster…” he said. “When you see it at night, it is frightening.” (Via)
