Last month, to help promote its Beat the Streak fan challenge, Major League Baseball issued a challenge to Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert – beat the league and he could have its Twitter account for 24 hours. If you’re not familiar with the game, Beat the Streak allows fans to pick a baseball player every day and hope that he gets a hit. If you’re the first to correctly pick 56-consecutive players with a hit, you’ll win $5.6 million. All Colbert had to do was last longer than the people picking on behalf of MLB (I’m guessing they’re Dominican shortstop propects) and he would be able to Tweet from the MLB account for a day. And wouldn’t you know it, he won. Because MLB lost on the second day.
Regardless if Colbert won after 2 days or 56, he indeed took control of the MLB Twitter this past Friday, and it was just as glorious as you’d expect if you already follow his personal Twitter, or simply watch his show.
