Congressman Vance McAllister Was Busted Cheating On His Wife And He’s Super Sorry

The Ouachita Citizen might not be a household name for most newspaper readers, but today the Louisiana publication with a paid circulation of just 5,200 dropped a real bombshell. An anonymous source sent the paper surveillance video footage from Congressman Vance McCallister’s office in Monroe from December 23, and it reveals the man who brought Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson to the State of the Union address swapping spit with a woman that isn’t his wife of 16 years.

In fact, the woman that McAllister is kissing in the grainy video clip is his own district scheduler, and she’s married as well. The Citizen did plenty of homework on the woman in the video as well, pointing out that not only did she donate $5,200 to McAllister’s campaign, but her husband matched it. You can read everything you need to know about her, including her address, in the Citizen, but this is all about an elected official being busted and offering the same old apology.

“There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness,” McAllister said in a statement. “I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve. Trust is something I know has to be earned whether you’re a husband, a father, or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone I’ve disappointed.”

“From day one, I’ve always tried to be an honest man. I ran for congress to make a difference and not to just be another politician. I don’t want to make a political statement on this, I would just simply like to say that I’m very sorry for what I’ve done.

“While I realize I serve the public, I would appreciate the privacy given to my children as we get through this.” (Via the Ouachita Citizen)

Privacy for his children, sure. Privacy for him? Haha, nope. This guy’s going to be cable news and Daily Show fodder for at least the rest of the week. If he’s smart, he’ll plant cocaine on one of his colleagues as soon as possible to draw some of the attention away.

Here’s one of McAllister’s campaign ads from last year, in which he introduces us to his wife and five kids while admitting that he wasn’t excited about having to go to DC and be away from them. Maybe he should have brought his district scheduler with him.
