A Gentleman Who Anonymously Donated His Wife’s Vintage Wedding Dress Is Identified

London’s St. Gemma’s Hospice Charity shop recently received a beautiful wedding dress as a donation, but there was something extra special about this one: a note. It was sweet and heartbreaking, but it was anonymous:

If you can’t see the picture or read the handwriting:

“I wish any lady who takes this dress to have a life with her loved one, 56 years like I did, happy years. I was a lucky man to marry a lady like mine,” the handwritten note says.

And the dress was beautiful and in great condition! And there was clearly a story behind this, and someone had to thank him. So they put pictures of the dress and a scan of the note on their Facebook page and let social media do its job — and they found him. He wanted to stay anonymous, as evidenced by St. Gemma’s post, but he was really glad to hear the story touched so many.

The dress is now up for auction on eBay to raise money for St. Gemma’s, so if you’re in the market, there’s a vintage dress waiting for you!
