Parents Of The Year Name Baby After A ‘Mass Effect’ Character

People have been naming babies after TV shows and sports teams and other things they love for as long as things people love have existed. Today a baby is allegedly entering the world with the name of a video game character, according to this proud new father (allegedly).

Tomorrow my daughter is scheduled to be born. I’m freaking out and all that, but that’s not why I’m here. Since day 1, her first name was always going to be Tali’Zorah. It’s not necessarily “named after Mass Effect”, but rather my wife fell in love with the name during our first playthrough of ME1 many years ago. Confused friends and relatives are told “we wanted a nice Quarian name” just because it’s funny to see the confusion become worse.

All that aside, a couple of people have told me that we’re nuts for giving a child that name. I like it a lot, I’m assuming she’ll like it, and I don’t think she’ll get teased for it or anything like that. Out of curiosity, am I totally off base about that?

That’s right. Tali’Zorah from Mass Effect, assuming this guy is for real.

Tali as a first name we can understand. But for the love of Keelah, leave out the apostrophe and just keep Zorah a middle name. Kid’s gotta learn how to spell her own first name in kindergarten, and eventually she’ll be sending out resumes. Don’t make life harder than it needs to be.

Oh well. It’s still a better girl’s name than Blip or even Quackadilly Blip. (One of those is real, by the way. This is why we can’t have nice things.)
