Charles Barkley: Dwight Howard “Has To Win A Championship” With The Houston Rockets

Without the NBA season, we’re missing out on commentary from the Inside The NBA team and their collective thoughts on the postseason moves made by players and teams. Thankfully, NBA Gametime Live was able to get the most outspoken member of the TV squad, Charles Barkley, on the horn last night to share his thoughts on Dwight Howard’s move to Houston, one of Chuck’s former teams.

Charles has always considered himself a Howard fan and is overall positive in his analysis of the big man’s move. Barkley calls Houston the team that creates the best mix for Dwight’s chances to win a championship. The Rockets have a young core to surround Howard with and players like James Harden will help take a share of focus off his new teammate.

But Chuck’s also quick to point out that the petulant big man is “out of goodwill” with teams and fans. According to Sir Charles, Howard’s “got to ride this thing out in Houston now…This is his third team in three years, if it doesn’t work in Houston, uh…first of all, to get his reputation back, he has to win a championship.”

And there we have the bottom line by Barkley.
