Sharon Benjamin-Hodo, the mother of famed Outkast member Andre 3000, passed away on Monday, May 27. A rep for the musician and actor confirmed to Billboard that Benjamin-Hodo was found dead in her Georgia home on the same day as her son’s 38th birthday.
Andre’s mother was an early supporter of her son’s music career and currently operated The Starlight Camp for underprivileged children, which she ran out of the New Morning Light Missionary Baptist Church, a church headed by her husband, Pastor Robert Hodo.
