Legends of Tomorrow, so far, has pretty much been Doctor Who with superheroes, which is the SF show we didn’t know we wanted. It turns out throwing a huge cast through time is highly entertaining, especially when that cast is usually either punching things or blowing them up. And now, they get to punch and/or explode 1980s Russia!
This episode follows the team as they go behind the Iron Curtain to track down some nuclear scientists, and discover in the process that Captain Cold has some pretty slick game with Russians. Meanwhile, Stein continues to bust Jax’s chops, because he really needs a pompous white guy getting on his case, and Sara has to teach Kendra how to fight. We also assume there will be a big fight, because come on, there has to be a big fight.
Joking aside, the Russian setting is a fun choice, and it promises to be a good bit of goofy fun. This show works largely because it’s just got too much going on to get bogged down in family drama or sulking over some principle or another. That said, we’re not sure how they can top Ollie stumping Malcolm from last night’s Arrow, but we’re sure they’ll try. We’ll find out tonight at 8 p.m. on the CW. Join us, won’t you?
