No one has ever questioned the toughness of Kobe Bryant. His once-in-a-lifetime mix of hyper competitiveness and ultra high pain tolerance has meant that he’s been able to play through a litany of injuries throughout his time in the NBA. Who could ever forget the time that Bryant tore his achilles but refused to leave the court until after he knocked down a pair of free throws?
We had another great moment in Kobe toughness on Friday night during the Lakers’ game against San Antonio. In what will go down as one of the most impressive moments in Bean’s lengthy career, he dislocated his finger late in the game, and instead of going to the locker room, he had Los Angeles’ trainer pop his finger back in so he could go back to playing. You can even tell the exact moment that his finger got popped back into place, as he briefly reacts to the pain before pretending that nothing happened.
After the game, Bryant said that x-rays on the finger were negative and that he plans on playing in the team’s next game in Chicago, because any thought of Kobe having to sit out of a game due to a bum digit is laughable at this point in his career.
