Jon Stewart Will Guest On Larry Wilmore’s Final ‘Nightly Show,’ But Will He Bring Alcohol?

Earlier this week, outgoing Nightly Show host Larry Wilmore suggested Jon Stewart’s departure from The Daily Show “hurt our numbers.” Whether or not Trevor Noah’s turn at the desk actually hurt Wilmore’s program remains to be seen. Nor does it really seem to matter at the moment, because Stewart is leaving his abused animals safe haven yet again to bid The Nightly Show adieu for its final episode on Thursday. Or at least that’s what the jokingly inebriated late night personality says in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“We’re gonna do a little reminiscing. I’m going to talk to all the contributors,” Wilmore explains, adding: “Jon Stewart is going to drop by, and I’m going to talk to him. So he’ll be popping in.”

As for what he and Stewart will discuss, the Nightly Show host kept mum on the details. “You’ll just have to wait and see.”

Despite leaving television (mostly) for good in 2015, Stewart has loosely kept in touch with audiences via producing credits on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show, Noah’s Daily Show, and Wilmore’s soon-to-end Nightly Show. So it comes as no surprise that he’d pay the latter a visit on its final night. The real question is, will Stewart follow former employee Samantha Bee’s lead and gift Wilmore with another scrumptious basket of liquor? We’ll find out soon enough.
