Contrary to what your ska-addicted cousin might have to say, not all cover songs are created equal. Thankfully, American charm machine Kelly Clarkson is a dependable person to trust with covers. You can also trust her with wigs too.
Clarko (Popjustice™) added another track to her swollen collection of covers last night. The original American Idol followed in Sia’s wigsteps with a rousing rendition of the Aussie’s soaring 2014 ballad “Chandelier.” Clarkson opts not to do all of the video’s choreography in the Facebook Live video, but it’s not as though that promo is hurting for homages.
“I’m Sia this Halloween,” shares Clarkson while doing something in the same league as the Hillary Clinton shimmy. “She’s one of my favorites, so I thought I’d wear a wig and be Sia. I’m gonna cover a Sia song real quick.”
In case you were curious, Clarkson and Sia have paired up for tracks in the past. Sia co-penned the cuts “Invincible” and “Let Your Tears Fall” on Clarkson’s 2015 album Piece by Piece. If we all play our cards right, maybe the two will align forces once more. Whether that’s for an album, a tour or a signature line of purchasable hairdos is entirely up to them.
