The Daily Show entered its third evening of Government shutdown coverage last night and after Jon Stewart recited the many, many names he’s used to call our incompetent elected officials during “Shutstorm 2013: America Sits on Its Balls,” John Oliver joined him at the front desk to help provide some clarity as to whether House Republicans are stupid or just think we’re really stupid (spoiler: a little of column A, a little of column B).
Mr. Oliver then takes to explaining just how Congress can get away with this, and the analogies couldn’t be more perfectly understandable. I’ll leave the lesson to him but it involves both Time Warner Cable and X-Men so now I get it. His segment starts at the 3:00 mark.
Honestly that last thirty seconds is the most depressing thing ever aired on The Daily Show.
