LeBron James is getting what he wanted after all. Reports surfaced on Tuesday that Dwyane Wade will indeed sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers after the former Chicago Bull clears waivers later this week.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that a source indicates Wade will sign with the Cavs, reuniting the two on the Eastern shores of Lake Erie after they won two titles together with the Miami Heat during the famed Big Three era.
Wojnarowski had the report on Friday afternoon that the two are getting the gang back together, though there’s no sign of Chris Bosh this time around.

Soon after, his Yahoo rival Shams Charania had the details of the contract.

The courtship between James and Wade was pretty overt as Wade’s buyout from the rebuilding Chicago Bulls loomed large all summer. James said he “would love” it if his friend came to play in Cleveland, and even dinner dates between the two friends became minor news notes in the dog days of August.
Though there were other options for Wade, it certainly sets up an interesting guard situation in Cleveland, with Isaiah Thomas out until at least January. The team has also brought in Derrick Rose this offseason, meaning there’s plenty of veteran experience in the backcourt for the Cavs even without IT.
The two sides made it official on Wednesday evening when Wade cleared waivers at 5 p.m. ET as the two sides agreed to the previously reported 1-year deal and Wade showed up for evening practice.
