The feel-good story of NBA trade deadline day was certainly the trade of Dwyane Wade back to the Miami Heat.

Wade had reportedly been pushing for a move back to Miami, and when the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers blew things up and tried to get younger, Wade was sent back to Miami for a protected second-round pick in 2024.

Everyone seemed happy about the move, including LeBron James and Wade’s wife, Gabrielle Union. In fact, in a video of the couple’s arrival to Miami, you can see her dance with Wade as she gets off the private plane.

“Heat Nation — oh, I haven’t said that in a long time, it feels so good,” Wade said. “I hope you guys are excited to see me. I can’t wait to get back on that court, I can’t wait to put on that number three and that Miami Heat jersey. So I’ll see you guys soon.”

Speaking of that Heat jersey, check out what Wade’s name looks like on those amazing Miami Vice uniforms. Definitely going to see a lot of those around in a few months.

Wade also posted a video to his Twitter account late Friday night thanking the Cavaliers for his time there and thanking the Heat for bringing him “home” to Miami.

“We’re definitely happy to be home,” Wade said in the video. “Thank you to the Cleveland Cavaliers fan base, thank you to the organization and the players that accepted me with open arms.”

So the homecoming is at full steam, and everyone seems happy right now. It’s expected that Wade plays on Friday night at home, and he’s almost certain to get a huge cheer from the Miami crowd. Pat Riley really did seem to make everyone happy with this one. Until, that is, Wade goes on that diet.
