Karl-Anthony Towns reportedly won’t hold any individual workouts for teams in advance of the NBA draft, but that hardly means he’s taking it easy with June 25 fast approaching. The Kentucky freshman was in Los Angeles on Monday training with fellow future lottery picks D’Angelo Russell and Willie Cauley-Stein.
DraftExpress’ Jonathan Givony and ESPN’s Chad Ford was in attendance and provided real-time updates of the workout on Twitter. Towns, unsurprisingly, seemed to impress.
Watching Karl Towns work out in a setting like this is an absolute joke. Doing some absolutely unreal things. Unbelievable how skilled he is

Workout over. Towns one of the most freakishly talented bigs I've ever seen. Not sure what his weakness is in this setting.

Given the insane combination of coordination, ballhandling ability, and explosiveness the seven-foot, 250-pounder exhibits above, it’s not hard to see why. Prospects with Towns’ amalgam of physical gifts and basketball skills are few and far between – even at the top of draft boards.
Think the Minnesota Timberwolves or Los Angeles Lakers will pass on the 19-year-old just because he elected against affording them an exclusive, in-person eye-test? Us neither. If the ‘Wolves opt for Jahlil Okafor with the number one pick as some have reported is a possibility, it’s hard to imagine Towns slipping past the Lakers at No. 2.
Either way, we can’t wait to watch him develop at the next level.
