With the proper perspective, it’s such a stupid, stupid thing to care about a team’s jersey. It’s akin to caring so much about a team, it physically hurts when they lose, which happens all the time. Jerseys are just fabric players wear to denote which team they’re on. They have no impact on the game, on the team’s success, or really anything at all, ever. They do not matter. Even sleeves are an empty argument against anything except aesthetic preference.
All that being said, we need to talk about the Oklahoma City Thunder’s new alternate jerseys, which they revealed today. They’re truly awful. Have a look.

The Thunder are calling the new alternate the "sunset" uniform, saying "not too red, not too orange."

One would think — given that the Thunder’s regular jersey color scheme is already near the league’s worst — that the team would try and make something better. But no, once again, the Thunder are content to roll out incredibly bland alternatives to go along with their already-bland name and logo. They look like rec league uniforms, or rejected Syracuse concepts. Now, let’s turn to Twitter to see how people reacted to these new jerseys.

Typically, organizations release bad news on Friday – it’s what’s known as the “take out the trash” day of the news cycle. This is also why people get fired on Fridays; unfortunate reactions don’t usually occur so close to the weekend. Unfortunately for the Thunder, plenty of people were paying attention today. And unlucky NBA fans as a whole, we have to watch these smears of orange streak up and down an NBA hardwood 18 times this season.
