Man, it’s tough out here for sneaker companies! First, Under Armour struck out with Steph Curry’s newest shoes, the Curry 2’s, and they had to hear about it for a solid week. That’ll show them to make some boring, plain-white dad shoes!
Adidas took a different strategy for Andrew Wiggins, though. Rather than the subtle, low-key look of the Curry’s, for the adidas Crazy Explosive PE Wiggins is rocking next season, they went for a field trip to 1994 with some lifted high-top kicks that look more like hiking boots than anything you’d find on the court. Wiggins has stronger ankles than that.

Look at those things. What’s Adidas to do? People ragged on the Curry’s for being straight vanilla, and now Adidas goes out and makes a shoe that you would recognize a hundred yards away and they still get slammed.

Pretty sure we've seen Andrew Wiggins' new shoes before… pic.twitter.com/pKx3ZoihDo

We’ll give Adidas this much credit though: way to come through with the white AND black models! The sad thing is, people seem to be making fun of both pretty equally, so whichever ad wizard thought “They can’t possibly hate BOTH shoes!” is probably fired now.
At least Curry can lace his up tonight (he won’t – Ed) for a pivotal Game 6 feeling great, like a fresh 5th grader who notices the bullies are off his back and picking on the new kid in school.
Andrew Wiggins' revenge on the Cavs: taking the sneaker heat off Steph hours before a closeout game.

Good luck parents, at this rate there’s no way you’ll buy shoes at a back-to-school sale in August that won’t get your kid mocked in school.
