Theme nights are always fun, but 1990s Nickelodeon-themed nights are the best. A minor league baseball team went with amazing Rugrats uniforms last year, but the Charlotte Hornets are thinking bigger and better for a ’90s Nickelodeon night against the Phoenix Suns on March 1.
The #Hornets and Nickelodeon are putting on a 90s-themed event during the March 1 game. Kel Mitchell is co-hosting. There will be slime.

According to Charlotte Five, the event is going to be hosted by Kel Mitchell of Keenan and Kel fame — if you’ve been wondering what he’s up to these days — and Figure It Out host Jeff Sutphen. There will also be a halftime show based on Double Dare, which simply sounds spectacular. However, there’s no word yet on whether people are going to be digging through a giant, slimy nose for season tickets.
For fan photo ops, Rugrats characters are going to make appearances, as well as the host podium from Double Dare, and Olmec’s Head from Legends of the Hidden Temple. (As a side note, the halftime show should feature a challenge in which fans try to put together the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, because for whatever reason, that room was freaking impossible.)
If you were a child a of the ’90s, the nostalgia factor is going through the roof. The only way to make it better would be if the teams had to play on a slime-covered court.
The possibilities are endless, but chances are this will be a cleaner version of our favorite ’90s shows, so to speak.
