Chris Paul Told Paul Pierce He Couldn’t End His Career In Utah

Salt Lake City is no place for a Paul Pierce farewell.

The Clippers were against the ropes on Friday night when they battled for their playoff lives on the road versus the series leading Utah Jazz and Chris Paul wasn’t going to let Pierce go out in the Beehive State. The superstar point guard used the setting of Game 6 as a point of motivational pride for Los Angeles in the team’s 98-93 win. It’s something that Paul shared at the post-game press conference. DeAndre Jordan reacts to this declaration like he’s Kate McKinnon when Louis C.K. slipped into Borat mode.

To be fair to Utah, we’re sure there are loads of lovely retirement castles in the state that welcome basketball vets playing over 10 minutes a night. Will that make Jazz fans feel any less wounded over Paul’s jab? Probably not, but it’s a funny line that’s going to make Paul’s life difficult whenever he returns in 2017-18. (Presumably not as a new Utah Jazz signing.)

Jazz versus Clippers are the only Game 7 on the market this NBA postseason. Los Angeles hosts the deciding game on Sunday afternoon at the Staples Center.
