Brandon Knight just can’t seem to catch a break. The talented young point guard has shown all sorts of potential the last two seasons – he was even briefly a fringe All-Star candidate last year – but he’s unfortunately much more famous for his cringe-worthy run of Shaqtin’ A Fool moments. He’s made so many appearances on the Diesel’s weekly countdown that he’s threatening to overtake Shaqtin GOAT Javalle McGee.
The worst of these, by far, was DeAndre Jordan’s #RIPBrandonKnight dunk from a few seasons ago, when young Brandon foolishly and inexplicably tried to block a lob pass to D.J., who came flying through the lane for what is inarguably one of the greatest posterizations in the history of humankind.
Knight was probably experiencing PTSD flashbacks Tuesday night when Rockets center Clint Capela tried to replicate that dunk when he went soaring in for the monster jam over the Suns’ point guard, who unsuccessfully tried to take a charge, which was a wise compromise, considering that he learned the hard way never to try and block another dunk for as long as he lives.
Capela had a solid double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Knight finished with just nine points on 3-of-9 shooting as his Suns fell to the Rockets 135-129. It was Phoenix’s first loss of the preseason, while Houston improved to 2-2.
