When Steph Curry looks back on 2016, the only regret he may have that’s deeper than losing an NBA Finals after having a 3-1 series lead is releasing those Under Armour dad sneakers everyone has been lampooning for weeks.
And now, after Hannibal Burress made a joke at the ESPYs with the sneakers as its target, saying that he traveled back from the future in what appeared to be Crocs but were actually the latest Curry sneaker, even the most dad footwear company in the world is getting in on the joke.
Taking this as an opportunity for its brand to activate casuals via social platforms, Crocs joined the endless roast of Curry’s sneakers on Twitter.
We were keeping these under wraps, but @hannibalburess gave everyone a sneak peak at last night's #ESPYS! pic.twitter.com/TZnDYup6hj

Crocs are the footwear for people who have given up trying, so this is like a company that makes microwave pizzas firing shots at Dominos. In the face of adversity, one hero at Uproxx stepped forward to give the Currys a positive review, then he went to the hardware store to buy garbage bags because he wanted to rake his lawn while wearing the sneakers.
Poor Steph. Everyone is owning his sneakers but no one is buying them.
