The Sacramento Kings have played much better basketball since airing grievances in a players-only meeting held last week. Unfortunately, that continued improvement will likely be put on hold during Thursday’s game against the Miami Heat.
Kings superstar DeMarcus Cousins will miss tonight’s matchup in the middle with Hassan Whiteside after being suspended one game by the league office for a cheap shot he took on Atlanta Hawks big man Al Horford.
Sacramento Kings forward DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended one game without pay for hitting Atlanta Hawks forward Al Horford in the head with a forearm, it was announced today by Kiki VanDeWeghe, Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.
Video of the incident is below.

Yikes.
There’s an argument to be made that Horford fouled Cousins while grappling for rebounding position, but that hardly excuses a forearm shiver to the head. Sacramento’s big man earned this suspension – despite no violation whatsoever being called on the play.
The Kings are 0-4 without Cousins in the lineup this season. Expect Kosta Koufos to take his place as a starter. Sacramento and Miami tip-off from American Airlines arena at 7:30 EST.
