By far, the best thing to come out of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight last year was the glorious world premiere of Uncle Denzel. It was an instant viral sensation, but just as unexpectedly as he had emerged did he recede back into the shadows. Well, everybody’s favorite uncle is back now, track suit and all, with a vague story about how he met Bulls’ draft pick Denzel Valentine, who shares his iconic first name. Via TMZ Sports:
“I actually talked to him,” Washington told TMZ. “I tracked him down, because how many Denzels do you meet?
The cameraman then asks, “Did they name him after you?”
“I think his mother said so. I’m not sure. You can’t quote me on that.”
Washington wouldn’t say whether he’d prefer to have Valentine on the Lakers as he quickly dodged the question and hopped into a nearby car. Valentine went to Chicago with the 14th overall pick in last week’s NBA Draft, and he recently made the somewhat controversial decision to wear the No. 45 jersey, which as you’ll recall is the same jersey number Michael Jordan wore after coming out of retirement the first time since his old No. 23 had been retired to the rafters.
