Dion Waiters underwent ankle surgery in January, and as a result, the Miami Heat guard will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2017-2018 NBA season. While that wouldn’t place anyone in the best frame of mind, Waiters had the chance to unleash a full-blown celebration on Sunday evening that would provide any observer with a great deal of energy.
Waiters was born in Philadelphia, and while he has bounced from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and now to the Heat, there are clear and present ties to the region Waiters calls home. In fact, he put out a PSA of sorts prior to the Super Bowl battle between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots that he would not be “answering or taking calls” while the game was taking place.

By now, it is common knowledge that the Eagles emerged victorious after a fantastic, MVP-winning performance from Nick Foles and, while the end of the game was transpiring, Waiters was captured in a memorable (and NSFW) celebration alongside his family.

Any die-hard sports fan can identify with Waiters’ emotion in the moment but it is also interesting to see a professional athlete let loose like that in video form. The celebration itself was worth noting but, on cue, Waiters went back to Instagram to call out the haters.

Waiters may not have taken to the streets of Philadelphia to create chaos like many Eagles fans but it was quite clear that he was wildly invested in the squad and he enjoyed the victory as such.
