It would appear that Drake is very confident in his favorite basketball team these days.
After the Raptors dropped the first two games of their Eastern Conference Finals series against the Cavaliers, the Toronto-based musician was very quiet. Almost silent, in fact.
However, the Raps have since ripped off two-straight victories to tie up the series and Drake is jumping all over the opportunity to talk some trash towards Cleveland. Following Toronto’s 105-99 win in Game 4 on Monday night, Drake, who was seated courtside for the game at Air Canada Centre, took to Instagram to upload not one, not two, but three posts talking smack to the Cavs.

Well, if the Cavaliers needed any bulletin board fodder to help regain a stranglehold on the series, they’ve now got it.
Here’s the thing, though — Drake did almost this same exact thing last round when he talked trash about Paul George and his Pacers as the Raptors were outperforming them. Then George and Indiana started to climb back into the series and Drake got nervous, so he deleted the posts.
If you’re going to be a ruthless trash talker, you’ve got to stand behind that smack talk whether you — or your team — win or lose. If you’re going to rub another team’s face in your — or your team’s — success, then you have to be ready and willing to take it right back if the tide turns. Deleting trash talk is softer than Charmin.
We already know that George didn’t take Drake’s chirps too seriously — they shared niceties after the semifinals series — but it’ll be interesting to keep an eye on how the Cavs respond to the beef. LeBron James, who was chirped by Drake on Instagram after Game 3, seemed to make it a point of knowing just where Drake was after big plays on Monday night.
The two have a friendly relationship, so I’m sure it’s all in good fun right now, but is it wrong to hope that a legitimate beef surfaces here?
