There’s no question Draymond Green deserves a spot on one of the All-NBA teams after his remarkable year. Unfortunately, his final play from Game 3 against the Rockets won’t make it onto his season highlight reel.
With Stephen Curry out with an ankle injury for the second consecutive game, Green looked just a tad off all evening. Sure, he didn’t shoot the ball all that well, but normally, Green is someone who doesn’t have to score in order to contribute — even on the offensive side of the ball. But his seven turnovers were costly, none more so than the final one.
With 2.7 seconds remaining and the Warriors down 97-96 after a James Harden turnaround jumper regained the lead for Houston, Golden State had one last chance to win it and go up 3-0 in the series. The Warriors ran a play to get Green the ball at the top of the key, but he just fumbled it.
You can bet that doesn’t happen much if they play out that sequence 100 times in a row.
